A weekend with

Sam Clark '24

Get to know Sam.

Sam is a Psychology major, music enthusiast, and animal lover who loves the ecosystem of support that Scripps provides, along with our outstanding academics. See what a typical weekend at Scripps looks like for her (and keep some ideas in your back pocket for yourself).

She loves studying psychology at Scripps because, "the classes I can take are very interdisciplinary and overlap with other areas of study that I find interesting."

Friday

WORK AND PLAY

"On Friday mornings I have a lab for one of my psychology classes, then give tours for the admissions office in the afternoon (maybe I'll see you there). Friday night, I usually spend time with my friends. Sometimes we walk to the Claremont Village to get dessert."

+

Most 5C students hang out in the Claremont Village. Only a 15-minute walk from campus, it has cool secondhand stores, delicious eateries, and a Sunday farmer’s market.

The Village is such a fun place to be.

Saturday

TIME TO UNWIND

"I like to chill in my room and relax on Saturdays, and my friends and I often do homework together. The community here is one of my favorite aspects of Scripps; it feels like there are many people in your corner. I think that's why Matriculation is one of my best Scripps memories."

+

Dress up as fancy as you like, walk through the Denison Library’s doors with your classmates, and sign your name in the Scripps book. Afterwards, it’s time to party.

Definitely one of the best moments of my college life.

Sunday

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SUNSHINE

"We have a beautiful campus at Scripps, so I like to move around and finish my homework in different spots on Sundays; I also try to spend as much time as I can outside in the California sunshine. And I might stop by the Motley to pick up coffee or a treat."

+

The Motley, just off Seal Court, is our student-run cafe. It’s one of the most popular places on campus; you can get great coffee and something to eat here.

There are a lot of top companies in SoCal—and most of them offer internships. Scripps students have interned at places like 20th Century Fox Studios and Apple.

An internship can give you a leg up in the graduate job search.

Dining hall food often gets a bad rap, but at Scripps, that’s not the case. Most Scripps students eat at the Malott dining hall and love all the fresh options.
